James Anderson Thompson, Sr. was born November 7, 1946, to John Anderson Thompson and Cleo Nelson (White) Thompson in Ardmore, Oklahoma. James accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he served in the Royal Ambassadors Young Men’s Association and the Youth Choir.
James received his formal education at Ardmore-Douglass High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma, graduating in 1964. He received further education at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. James served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.James was united in marriage to Lora Dawnise Thompson and to this union two sons, James Thompson Jr. and Jaime Cleo Thompson were born.James worked for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Stromberg Carlson Electronics of Ardmore, Oklahoma. James had remarkable carpentry skills and loved the outdoors.
James Anderson Thompson, Sr., departed this life on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Anderson Thompson and Cleo Nelson (White) Thompson; brother, Calvin Wayne; sister, Cheryl Simmons; and sister-in-law, Rayvon Thompson.
Left to cherish his memories are two sons, James Anderson Thompson, Jr. (Rebekah) and Jaime Cleo Thompson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; three brothers, John Earl Thompson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Kevin Thompson (May) of Haslet, Texas, and John A. Thompson, Jr. (Chariss) of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Yolanda Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Rayvon Thompson, Kiana Rambo, Jameisha Thompson, James Rambo, Alexandra Thompson, Keyshawn Jerralle Eldred; six great-grandchildren, Jayla McNeil, Kendrick Rambo, Amiyah Webb, Makai Webb, Taylynn-Ja’Kyra Thompson, and Ekari Rena Thompson; god daughter, Kimberly White of Ardmore, Oklahoma; local first cousins, Mildred Rochelle Presdent, Patricia "Pat" Brown, Vanessa Chance, Mary Seawood, and Lydia Dawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
