William Owens Roberts was born in Springer, Oklahoma in the community known as Robertsville, on May 15, 1942, to Ozella (Croomes) and Richard Roberts. He was born the fourth of five children. William joined Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. He left home after his graduation from Springer High School. He moved to California and joined the Navy and served 2 years. He was also a US Coast Guard Volunteer. He met and married Kaye (Harrell) Roberts and to their union a son, Jason Richard Roberts was born. He later met and married Ann (Alexander) Roberts.
William was employed at the Chino California State Penitentiary for many years. His health prevented him from working and he returned home to Oklahoma.
William is preceded in death by his parents; Ozella and Richard Roberts, and his wife; Ann (Alexander) Roberts, a daughter; Gracie Lynn Berry, a brother; Edward Roberts, and a sister, Elder Ray Roberts.
William leaves to mourn his ex-wife; Kay (Harrell) Roberts, his son; Jason Roberts, and his wife Shanique, 4 grandchildren; Jasmine Roberts, Janae' Roberts, Ja'Sha Roberts, and Jason Roberts, II (Big Jay), one great-granddaughter, Emery Roberts, two sisters; Doris Hawkins and Ruth Nelson and his brother-in-law, Billy Ray Nelson.
William also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and close brotherly cousins; Authur (Lynda) Harris, Donald (Janet) Hendon, and Jimmy (Linda) Graham.
